Tamba Hali latest legend to be inducted into the Kansas City Chiefs' Hall of Fame
Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs have announced that former OLB Tamba Hali will go into the Ring of Honor during the 2024 NFL season.

A first-round pick out of Penn State by the Chiefs in the 2006 NFL draft, Hali spent his entire 12-year career in Kansas City, appearing in 177 total games. His 157 career starts are tied for the sixth-most by any player in Chiefs history. One of the most dominant pass-rushers in franchise history, Hali ranks second in sacks (89.5) and forced fumbles (33) behind only Derrick Thomas in team annals.

"My family and I are thrilled to announce Tamba Hali as this year's inductee into the Chiefs Hall of Fame," Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said, via press release. "From the day we drafted Tamba in 2006, he has inspired our fans with electrifying performances on the field and outstanding character off the field. Throughout his illustrious career, Tamba was respected and admired by his teammates, as he moved from defensive end to outside linebacker in his fourth season and quickly became a Pro Bowler. His stats speak for themselves, establishing him as one of the great defensive players in Chiefs history. And he is perhaps even more impressive off the field. Tamba's remarkable personal journey has molded a man of integrity, resilience and determination. He has given back to the community in Kansas City, in New Jersey, and in his childhood home of Liberia. Chiefs Kingdom, all around the world, is cheering for him today."

While Hali has been retired from the NFL officially since May of 2021, he remains involved in teaching the next generation of the Chiefs pass rushers in Kansas City. Hali took former first-round draft pick George Karlaftis under his wing last offseason. This year, he's working alongside 2023's first-round pick Felix Anudike-Uzomah

Hali is the 53rd individual and 49th player to be selected for the Ring of Honor and Hall of Fame. There is currently no official date for the enshrinement ceremony into the Chiefs Hall of Fame, but it will be held whenever the Chiefs host their annual "Legends Weekend."
